In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Hispanic Alliance of Atlantic County, Inc. (HAAC) will host a “Meet the Artist” Reception on Friday, October 9, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Atlantic City Arts Center located at the Garden Pier on the Boardwalk and New Jersey Avenue, Atlantic City, New Jersey. This event is free and open to the public. The Artist Reception will provide an opportunity to not only see the works of Photographer Luz Salenia Salas, as well as professional oil painters Alberto Becerra and Ana Hasbun, but also provide an opportunity to meet the artists. For more information please visit www.haac.org or call (609) 412-7421. More about our featured artists: Ana Hasbun, from Barranquilla, Colombia, attended the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Cartagena, and has been a professional oil painter for over twenty years. Ana uses color as the main creative principle to shape and receive sensations without any figurative intention. Alberto A. Becerra is a seasoned visual artist with a repertoire of forty years of experience and a significant volume of work. Alberto is the author of "Caritas", a series of drawings and paintings that represent every day people captured in their daily routines. Alberto is also the sole creator of "Musigraphy", a contemporary approach to paint and music. Luz Salenia Salas was born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico. Her photographic interests extend beyond the visual experience motivated by the urban environmental changes of the last three decades. She has captured the diversity of “everyday people” with consistency. In her imagery she expresses feelings with understanding and a level of compassion. Today, Luz uses her camera as a fine art tool to express the new. In her contemporary settings and ongoing development of her work, the artist brings to the professional foreground photographic images that reflect her life through self-portrait experience.
